Snow shots from early last week

It is so cute now switzerland went almost the entire winter with no snow and how it keeps making little snow days after i sent home my winter clothes. Im ready for dress season.

new family

Im am officialy moved in with my 3rd and final host family that will host me for the next for months. I have two little brothers and an older sister. Its kind of funny looking at new bus scheduals and such because its like arriving on eexchange all over again.

Last hours

So I woke up at 7:45am today (and thanks to todays time change that makes it 6:45) to make bread for breakfast for my last meal with y host family, and one nread to take with me to my last family. Unfortunately I dont think the bread will be edible but it is the thought that counts.
I am all packed up withtow large 50 pound suitcases, my small carryon rolling suitcase,  my carryone backpack, and my school bag, whic seems to be 50% less sruff than my last move haha.
So now im just waiting for everyone to wake up which might be a while.
! Ixed feelings thay im trying to block out right now.

28th

Exactly 4 months from today I am back in California.
I am not sure how I feel about that.

Exchange students problems

Yeah this is so sad and true! Thank you family for sending me a new pair!

I have friends.....

So last night my host family is telling me they are not home friday night nor saturday and if I want a friend to come over they would be good. So I ask my host sister if shell be home and she says no so im like... so I can have a friend stay the night? And my host sister replies to that with
"Yeah but that only works if you had a friend"
This results I my family laughin at me at the dinner table for a good 10 minutes.
My family doesnt believe I have friends.....
I lived here 4 months......
Are they wrong or am I.....

Cooking

I cooked dinner for my second host family  (I change to the third and last this sunday) some chicken, stuffing, and veggies, and I desided to make a sauce to soak the chicken in, so I just went through the fridge and threw stuff in a bag:

Onion
Olive oil
And Sudsie Q salts

My host dad said I used a super special american sauce and all I can think is.... im grateful to not have given you all food poisoning.....

Next fridays my school dance, which they call balls here but it is less formal than almost any school dance back home. Not gunna lie I was hoping for more

More little snow falls

Soooo I sent home all my winter clothes on satuday because we were having 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit weather, sunday and monday have both snowed. I honestly didn't see this coming....

Foreigners

So at the moment Switzerland it is a contevesy about letting in foreigners into the country.  Today in geography I was listening to a boy talk about how he is against letting them in so I go over and act all offended saying stuff like "do you want to say somethig to me??? Want to say it to my face??? Lets hear it???? You got a problem with foreigners?"
And it took him a mimute to understand that I too am a foreigner,  and that I was just kidding.

Two weeks

Swiss chocolate

So my mom sent me a package and among other things was See's camdy chocolate, funny becaise I live in the chocolate country of the world. Well I still find my favorite See's chocolate bar better than the general swiss chocolate.
P.s. don't tell the swiss folk this!

Schnapps

Host dad took my host sister and me out for pizza and he ordered a schnapps.... this is the bottle they served him from. I kinda freaked out and asked the waitress to take a photo with it. Yeah I am that exchange student haha.

Post haircut

That feelig when the hairdresser cut so little of your hair their is no point in a before and after picture.
I asked for a couple of inches to be taken off and she took off one inch or less....haha
Oh well it is a inch of dead ends gone!

Rotary presentation

Today I had to give my rotary presentation (in german), talking for 15-20 minutes.
I was honestly totally freaking out, even though I had made t over a week in advance, had a cute not card for hard words (which I totally forgot to read off of, and bombed a few words)
But everyone was really nice and encouraging! At the end they gave me this huge thing of chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I just ditch a class....

So I got to go home for lunch today because my class has french after lunch. So I come back to school and at the bus stop are kids from my class. I ask them where are you going dont we have computer class? And they try to explain to me in german but I was a little lost but basically they said we do to have computer today that we are doing a project and dont have to come. (I guessed we had spoken together about 15min)
Then im all bummed because I could have stayed at home for another hour before my last class of the day.
So I go into the school and go to my class table and I notice that all the kids stuff is there.,,, I look around for them and  THEY ARE IN COMPUTER CLASS! So im late and I think theres less tham half the class left so I go and sit at the table for them to finish. After 15 minutes I check the time.....if I had entered the class when I first got there I would have only been 3 minutes late. Sigh. So im sitting at the table and my homeroom teacher (in charge of absences) is walking towards me and I freak out and continue drawing.... she didnt reconise me and kept walking.
The whole time I feel bad because there was no reason for me to miss the class besides miss understandings. When my class comes out I ask then if the teacher noticed I wasnt there and they said "there was no teacher today, you didnt have to come"

German gender problems

So today I recieved an email from a rotary member. I had to send a reply but in the german language you say "dear"....  with the gender of the person you are writing. I didn't know if the email came from a man or a woman and I was worried I would offend them if I guessed and was wrong so basicaly insted of writing
"Dear (state gender) so and so
Blah blah blah
Sincerely(state gender) Elizabeth..."

I just wrote
"I am sorry to reply so late, my answer is... blah blah
.... have a nice day"

Level of awkward: exchange student

Italian student

So the first 4 months of my excha ge my family back home was hosting a student from italy.
We never met because I left California on Aug 3rd and she arrived Aug 4th.
Now planning return dates I find out, we still wont meet because I come home July 28th at 9pm and she leaves July 28th in the morning.
Im sorry but what the heck, I mean really! Do we plan this you ask NO it just stinkin happend!!!!!!!!!!! My one and only exchange student and I never got to meet her.
Reunion trips are a must.

Ps happy 7 months today for me in Switzerland and as of tomorrow happy 7 months in the California for my Italian exchange student!!

Baby

So my host cousin (or of a similar realation) had her 3rd son two weeks ago and today we went and visited. The baby was adorable and tiny and slept the entire visit. The other teo sons who are about 3 and 2 years old we playing in the living room where the baby was sleeping. It was strange to me that the kids played like they would any otherday running laughing arguaing over who gets what toy and crying when being unhappy about which toy they had. Like.. back home people have babies and its like unwritten law that when baby is sleeping the house should be quite. But not switzerland haha, and the baby didnt wake up once. And yes the varies on  baby to baby and family to family but it was just very interesting to see.
